Ministries

First Baptist Church is seeking to fulfill the New Testament pattern of Christian ministry. Since its organization in 1843, our church has been a cherished landmark to the multitudes who have accepted the Christian life through its ministry. We seek to offer meaningful worship, a progressive program of Christian nurture, a warm redemptive fellowship, and opportunity to grow in and live out faith in Jesus Christ.

Music Ministry

One of the most vibrant and rewarding ministries within our church is that of the music ministry. First Baptist Church has enjoyed a long history of excellence in music, and its members are dedicated to continuing to provide a ministry that touches and challenges people of all ages. Music education, hymn singing, worship leadership spiritual enrichment, fun, and fellowship are all aspects that make the FBC music program special.

Senior Adult Ministry

The goal of the Senior Adult Committee is to combine learning and spiritual growth with fun and fellowship. They enjoy traveling as well as ministering to their members and to the church through special activities. They also love to eat! The Senior Adult Choir is called the Silver Singers, and the handbell group is called the Silver Bells. This is an all volunteer group made up of senior adults who enjoy music. Musical knowledge and talent are not even required.

Children and Youth Ministry

A vital ministry for any church is its ministry to children and teenagers. First Baptist offers a well-balanced ministry for young people which meets the need for spiritual, physical, and social activity. These activities include Sunday and Wednesday meetings, retreats, trips, missions, and fellowships.

Missions

Missions Education and Missions Involvement are the priority of our congregation. Our Women on Missions (adult ladies),  Baptist Men (adult men), Youth on Missions (6th - 12th grades), GAs and RAs (1st - 5th grade), and Mission Friends (3-5 years old) are all dedicated to learning about missionaries and supporting them. We support Global Missions through CBF and local missions through our Hispanic Mission, United Church Ministry, Habitat, and the Neuse Association.

First Baptist Child Development Center

The First Baptist Child Development Center was formed as an outreach of the church to the community. It has been in operation since 1970. It has grown from a handful of children to the thriving center that it is today.
The First Baptist Child Development Center offers care for children 6 weeks through school age. Our 2,3 and 4/5 year old preschool classrooms are arranged with interest centers and are designed to foster all aspects of a child's development. These classrooms work to help children build school readiness skills and to prepare them for the kindergarten transition. Our Infant toddler program provides children with a variety of experiences that will nuture and develop them emotionally, socially, physically and intellectually. All of our classrooms use a curiculum that is Christaian based to help teach the children about God's love.
We enjoy a well equiped, fenced in playground with a special area for children under 2 years of age. We are licensed by the state and are regulary inspected by the local health and fire departments.

Operating hours are Monday - Friday 7:00 - 6:00
